In the timeless city of Macondo, seven generations of the Buendia family live in love, oblivion and the inevitability of their past and destiny. To date, this is the most expensive Latin American Netflix project, in which Colombian groups and communities of indigenous peoples create props and scenery for the series. Watching this Colombian cinematic miracle is a complete pleasure. The screen adaptation exceeded my expectations and dispelled all fears regarding a potentially unsuccessful attempt to make a decent film from a very cold “unscreened” novel. In my eyes, it looks absolutely authentic and magical. Well done to the Colombian creators and crew for a very thoughtful, thorough and sensitive adaptation of one of the most beautiful novels ever written! Cinematography is excellent and very clearly shows the beauty of Colombia. Costumes, colonial architecture, building interiors and carefully selected music create an unforgettable atmosphere of Colombian magic in every detail. “One Hundred Years of Loneliness” is one of the biggest TV and streaming premieres this month.
